Adoption Process

Thank you for your interest in adopting from me! There are a few simple steps to get you started in your adoption process. They are as follows:

Prices are marked on the Prices page for your convenience. Babies are ready for their new homes at 9-14 weeks old on Conures. Depending on when they wean. I keep them for a week after they wean to be sure they are eating very well before they leave here.

  1. Contact me! Tell me about yourself and why you would like a new family pet.
  3. Once I have granted adoption approval and you have decided which type of bird you want you can send me the nonrefundable deposit to be placed on the wait list. Your wait will depend on the time of year and weather its breeding season at the time. Birds breed from September to May in Colorado. And sometimes they have a prosperous season and other seasons they have less babies. These are things I cannot control. It also depends on where you are on the wait list. You can check the planned breeding page for up and coming plans before the season hits. You will have 24 hours to respond to my email once I contact you to choose a baby. If you do not contact me I will move to the next person on the list. And you will loose your turn. I cannot wait several days and not be able to adopt out any babies while I wait for you to eventually contact me. The other people on the wait list are excitedly waiting for their turn.
  4. After your baby is 3-4 weeks old which is when feathers begin to open and I can see color, I will contact you to pick a baby from all of the pictures I have posted on my site. You can then pay for the remainder of the baby via PayPal. I do not take full payments at the time you send the $25 deposit. Once the payment is made I will then lock you in for the baby and put your name on it on my site. If you change your mind after paying for the baby in full I will keep $100 as non refundable and refund the rest to you  including the $25 wait list fee.
  5.  I will continuously update pictures and the status of babies especially on Facebook. I have 2 pages on FB for that link 1& link 2. I will also post a few pictures on my website. Just click on the Nursery and then on the baby's individual page.
  6. You need to contact me for a pick up time when he/she is weaned. Once the baby is weaned you can pick it up!
  7. I hope you enjoy your baby as much as we do! Please contact me within 3-4 days with an update so that I know your baby is eating and drinking. This last step is very important to do!
  8. Your baby will not eat in front of you for the 1st 2-3 days.  Making you think he's not eating at all, even though he is. Right now he's afraid so he's not feeling comfortable enough to do that. Also for the first 2 weeks at least he will sit very still in the cage and not move around a lot. It will probably sit on the bottom of the cage during this time. So please get used to these things as it's very normal during transition time. This is why I ask that you do not take your bird out or mess with them for the first 2 days at home. He/she needs time to adjust!

Please remember that I am here for you throughout your birds entire life. So anytime you need me please let me know. I am always ready to help!!!
